CMA CGM Bill of Lading formats
CMA CGM references show up in more shapes than most lines, partly because the group covers several brands and partly because forwarders pass along different reference types. Melsun accepts the common forms without pre-cleaning.

The shipping line column can read CMA, CGM, CMA CGM, CMA-CGM, CMDU, or CMA CGM Group. All of these normalize to the same carrier.

CMA CGM rows always return a refreshed ETA and status. Milestone, location, and vessel detail depends on the lookup path available for the shipment, so those columns can be sparser for CMA CGM than for Maersk, MSC, or ONE.
Troubleshooting
- My CMA CGM row has an ETA but no milestone detail
- This is expected rather than a failure. CMA CGM ETA refresh and milestone history come from different lookup paths, and the ETA is the field guaranteed on every successful row. Treat the milestone columns as a bonus for CMA CGM and the ETA and status columns as the reliable output.
- A CMA CGM row returned TRACKING UNAVAILABLE
- Confirm the reference first, since CMA CGM accepts several reference types and a booking number pasted into a Bill of Lading column will not always resolve. If the reference is right, retry the failed rows, which does not consume another run.
- CMA CGM rows are slower than the rest of my sheet
- CMA CGM lookups are given a longer time budget than other carriers because the carrier's own responses are slower. A mixed sheet will finish its Maersk and ONE rows well before its CMA CGM rows, which is normal — the job completes when every row has resolved or timed out.

- Does Melsun support CMA CGM tracking?
- Yes. Rows whose shipping line maps to CMA CGM are refreshed through the CMA CGM lookup path and returned with an updated ETA and status in your sheet.
- What counts as a tracking run?
- One executed spreadsheet job counts as one run, regardless of how many Bill of Lading rows it contains. Uploading and previewing a file does not consume a run — only starting the tracking job does. Runs that fail still count, but retrying failed rows on a completed job does not.
- How often should I re-run a CMA CGM sheet?
- It depends on how close you are to arrival. Most teams re-run weekly while cargo is on the water and more frequently in the final week, when berth and discharge changes are most likely to move the date you have committed to.
- Can I share the refreshed CMA CGM data with customers?
- Yes. Every completed run produces both an updated spreadsheet and a PDF summary, so you can send the PDF to a customer or broker without exposing the rest of your internal board.
- What happens to rows for carriers you do not support?
- They are marked Unsupported carrier in the status column and left otherwise untouched. Melsun currently refreshes Maersk, MSC, CMA CGM, and ONE, so a mixed sheet still processes its supported rows and clearly flags the rest.
